Avoid acidic, pigmented foods and beverages and stick to things that won't cause discolouration. Your teeth may be slightly more sensitive. While you should wait 48 hours to resume any activities or foods that could stain your teeth, it's best to wait for an entire week. To maximize your whitening results, you should limit these foods and activities.
Will It damage my teeth?
Some people develop temporary sensitivity in their gums or teeth when using whitening products. This is not a sign of long term damage. If whitening gel is used in excess or incorrectly, teeth whitening agents can be damaging to your enamel.
How long will my results last?
Teeth whitening can last up to 6-12 months, depending on each individuals oral hygiene and dietary habits. It’s important to maintain good oral hygiene and avoid consuming staining substances to prolong the results, but no one is going to stop me from having coffee! You can always touch up your teeth whitening.
Is whitening toothpaste just as effective as professional teeth whitening?
Whitening toothpaste may lead to a lighter shade of enamel, but it can't provide the same outcome as professional treatments. Strong bleaching agents are for professional use only because the gels used penetrate the deeper layers of the tooth, providing a more powerful effect than what manufactures provide in toothpaste.
Will professional teeth whitening remove every single stain?
Discolouration on crowns, caps, veneers and fillings typically does not respond well to the whitening process. Brown, gray and black teeth caused by injury or medication also do not typically respond to professional teeth whitening.
